Through a partnership with Ericco LLC of Saipan, Maeda Pacific Corporation established Basula Produkto in 2001. Basula Produkto is primarily involved in the collection, processing and shipment off-island of recyclables such as metals, paper, plastics and tires. In 2007, in cooperation with the Mayor of Saipan, the partnership removed over 300 abandoned cars and shipped them off-island. In 2006, the partnership received and Environmental Award from the US Environmental Protection Agency for its efforts in recycling waste on Saipan and saving space at the landfill.
